As
your pets age, there are many changes that you may be inclined to chalk
up to your pets getting older. However, it is very important to realize
that certain signs are indicative of underlying diseases--many of which
can be treated and improve the quality of your pet's life.
Please
read and determine if your pet is experiencing one or more of the following
signs:
Stiffness or lameness, seems sore after running, jumping or climbing
stairs
Appetite or weight has increased/decreased noticeably
Change in activity level
Increased water consumption and/or increased urination
Difficulty urinating or passing stool
Frequent episodes of vomiting and/or diarrhea
Frequent coughing, excessive panting, seems more tired after exercise
or play
New lumps, bumps, sores or loss of hair coat
Bad-smelling breath, red or irritated gums, drooling, difficulty eating
Loss of housetraining
Changes in behavior such as altered sleeping pattern, diminished responsiveness,
less interaction with the family, demonstrates confusion or disorientation
If
you are noticing any of these changes please call or make an appointment
with your veterinarian to discuss possible causes and possible treatments.
