Dr. Jerry Owens grew up in Santa Barbara, California and attended college at the University of Redlands and then U.C. Davis for his undergraduate studies. He received his DVM from the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1971. He completed an internship in medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York and went on to complete residencies in medicine and radiology at the Animal Medical Center, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

In 1976, he passed his specialty boards in Radiology and moved back to California. Since 1976, he has been involved with a number of specialty practices in the Bay Area. He currently provides radiology consultations and mobile ultrasound examinations to more than 400 veterinary practices throughout northern California.

He has been the radiologist at Madera Pet Hospital since 1977, interpreting all of their radiographic studies and performing ultrasound examinations.

He and his wife, Geraldine own the "Owens Farm" which consists of a small orchard, chickens, sheep, a miniature donkey and a goat. His hobbies include: golf; fly fishing, woodworking and poker. They have two daughters, Lori and Rebecca.
